Silesia Diamond League 2024: Top athletes to watch out for ft. Letsile Tebogo and Kishane Thompson 

Silesia Diamond League 2024 will take place on August 25 at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzow, Poland. The event will consist of multiple events including the 100m, 200m, 110m hurdles, and the 800m.

The field list for the event features multiple Olympic champions like Letsile Tebogo, Grant Holloway, and Kishane Thompson. The 100m dash is expected to feature a terrific showdown between Fred Kerley, Kishane Thompson, and Ackeem Blake, among others.

Top athletes to compete in the 2024 Silesia Diamond League

#1 Letsile Tebogo

Letsile Tebogo, who recently dominated the 200m dash at the Paris Olympics and became Botswana's first Olympic gold medalist, is set to compete in the same event at the Silesia Diamond League. He became the Olympic champion after clocking 19.46, besting Kenny Bednarek who claimed the silver medal with a time of 19.62s, and heavy favorite Noah Lyles, who finished third with 19.70s.

Tebogo will now square off against Kyree King, Kenny Bednarek, Erriyon Knighton, and several other athletes in the 200m at the Diamond League.

#2 Kishane Thompson

Olympic medalist, Kishane Thompson will compete in the men's 100m dash days after his Paris Olympics campaign. He will be up against Fred Kerley, Ackeem Blake, Pjai Austin, and Rohan Watson, among others. His promising outing at the Paris Olympics, where he claimed a silver medal in the 100m event after posting a time of 9.79s and setting his personal best of 9.77s in 100m at Jamaican Olympic trials puts him in the spotlight ahead of the event.

#3 Emmanuel Wanyonyi

Emmanuel Wanyonyi will be a formidable contender for the Silesia Diamond League following his dominant outing in the men's 800m dash at the Paris Olympics. The Kenyan clocked 1:41.19 to defeat the Canadian runner Marco Arop, who recorded a time of 1:41.20, and Djamel Sedjati, who finished third with 1:41.50.

Following his impressive campaign at the French Capital, Wanyonyi is geared up to compete in the men's 800m at the Silesia Diamond League, where he will compete against the likes of Marco Arop, Bryce Hoppel, and Hobbs Kessler. Previously, Wanyonyi had clinched the 800m gold at Rabat in the 2023 Diamond League

#4 Grant Holloway

Grant Holloway, a household name in the 110m hurdles, will go against his Olympic contenders Daniel Roberts and Rasheed Broadbell at the Silesia Diamond League.

Prior to this competition, the American clocked 12.99s to clinch the 110m Hurdles gold, ahead of Daniel Roberts, who clocked 13.09s, and Rasheed Broadbell, who finished third with a time of 13.09s.

#5 Fred Kerley

Fred Kerley, who won the bronze medal in the 100m at the Paris Olympics, will face the likes of Kishane Thompson, Ackeem Blake, and Marcell Jacobs at the Silesian Stadium. He clocked a time of 9.81s to clinch the bronze and share the podium with Noah Lyles and Kishane Thompson, who claimed first and second place, respectively. Kerley finished first in the 100m in the final leg of the 2021 Diamond League event held at Brussels after clocking an impressive 9.94s.
