American gymnastics legend Simone Biles cheered on her Gold Over America Tour teammate Joscelyn Roberson, who is currently working hard in training to gear up for the upcoming NCAA season.
In June this year, the 18-year-old Roberson had her breakthrough moment at the US Olympic Trials, where she earned an alternative spot in the American team alongside Leanne Wong. She placed sixth overall with a total score of 110.975 and earned her career-best score in the all-around event, where she had never scored above 55.000. She reached an impressive 55.500 in the final of the trials.
Roberson is the first gymnast from the University of Arkansas to represent the country at the Olympic Games. After that, she joined the Gold Over America Tour alongside Simone Biles, who completed her Paris Olympics campaign with three gold medals and a silver.
After touring 24 cities across the United States, the tour will come to an end in Detroit on November 3. Then, Roberson will participate in the NCAA season in 2025, representing the Arkansas Razorbacks. As a part of this, the Texas native has already started training and shared a video showcasing her work on flips.
"Flipsss," Roberson captioned the video.
The video caught the attention of Biles, who looked impressed with her skills and commented:
"The dance into it is sooo real"
"I got a different experience from the other girls" - Joscelyn Roberson shares her experience of meeting Simone Biles
Roberson was part of the American team that won the team all-around title at the 2023 World Championships, where she got to be roommates with her idol Simone Biles.
"It was awesome getting to watch the finals, and watch Simone and be in her corner. I feel I got a different experience from the other girls because I was her roommate, and I am her teammate at home. So getting to see how she works and how she kept herself fresh and able to do gymnastics was really good. I’ll be taking how she goes down and comes back up, and her training, into my own training," she said (via her March 2024 interiew with International Gymnast Media).
She also noted that her time with Simone Biles taught her that gymnastics does not have to dominate every moment of an athlete's life.
