Simone Biles recently dropped a subtle hint about her gymnastics future as she made an appearance on the Today show. The American gymnast surprised the host, Hoda Kotb, on her last day on the show and hoped to be together in Los Angeles in the future.
Biles, the most decorated gymnast, recently concluded her campaign at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her appearance at the pinnacle games was termed as 'redemption' by fans as she had withdrawn from the previous edition of the Olympics in Tokyo.
Simone Biles asserted her dominance at the quadrennial Games as she took home three golds and one silver, making it her second most successful Olympic campaign after 2016 Rio de Janeiro.
Biles has made several appearances on the Today show and shared a close bond with Hoda Kotb. The 27-year-old made a surprise appearance on Kotb's last day as the host of the show and reflected on their close bond over the years.
Furthermore, Biles hinted at her presence at the Olympic games scheduled to be held in Los Angeles in 2028 when asked about her plans for the future. Biles said (via Today's YouTube channel):
"Hopefully we're in LA together. Whatever that means for the both of us." (2:20 onwards)
Hoda Kotb exuded excitement and beamed with joy after Biles' remark about being together in Los Angeles, as she got an opportunity to have breaking news in her last show. Kotb expressed that she will support the gymnast in all her future endeavors, saying:
"We broke news on my last show. Anyways, Simone however, you end up in LA and whatever you do, I'm going to be there with you. I love you."
Simone Biles on competing at the Los Angeles Olympics
Ever since Simone Biles concluded her campaign at the Paris Olympics, a recurring question has been about her plans to appear in the next edition of the Olympics in Los Angeles. The American gymnast has had a positive outlook on competing in the upcoming gymnastics events and has not ruled out the possibility of competing at the LA Olympics.
After her appearance in the vaults at the 2024 Olympics, Biles shared her thoughts during an interview and said:
"Is this my last... definitely the Yurchenko double pike, I mean, I kinda nailed that one. So, you know, never say never. The next Olympics is at home. So you just never know. But I am getting really old."
If Biles competes at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, it would be the American gymnast's fourth consecutive appearance at the quadrennial Games.
