The four-time Olympic champion and the most decorated gymnast of all time, Simone Biles, added another feather to her crown at the Paris Olympics by recording the second-best all-around score in the current Olympic cycle. She is representing the USA gymnastics team at the Paris Olympic Games, marking her third consecutive appearance in the quadrennial event.

Simone Biles competed on day 3 of the games during the women's qualifying rounds on Sunday, where the gymnast put on an all-around score of 59.566, finishing ahead of her compatriot and the reigning Olympic champion, Suni Lee, who scored 56.132 and placed second.

Being the most successful female Olympian gymnast, tied with Shannon Miller with seven Olympic medals, Biles experienced a difficult time during the Tokyo Olympics, where she had to pull out of multiple events in the wake of 'twisties.' However, she made a triumphant return to her gymnastics pursuits last year at the 2023 US Classic and has continued to excel. She leads with 11 out of 12 best all-around scores in the world for the current Olympic cycle.

Simone Biles' latest all-around score of 59.566 at the Paris Olympics was her second-best performance, while her top score of 60.450 was achieved at the 2024 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships. Brazilian Rebeca Andrade is the only other gymnast to make the list, securing the 12th spot with a score of 58.100, which she recorded during the 2022 nationals. Nick Zaccardi, a reporter for NBC, shared the update on his X handle (formerly Twitter) and wrote:

Vying to become the most decorated female Olympian gymnast, Simone Biles kicked off the Paris Olympics in style on Sunday. Competing with a sore left calf, Biles scored 15.800 in vault apparatus with her signature Yurchenko double pike.

Coming into the floor exercise, Simone Biles put on a score of 14.600, while the uneven bars event saw a shaky performance from the American icon, but she still pulled off an impressive total of 14.433.

The team USA sits at the top of the standings after the first round of the qualifying session, with their lineup scoring 172.296, followed by Italy in second place with 166.861 and China finishing third with 166.628.
