Olympic champion Simone Biles recently attended the opening MLB match of the Houston Astros team. The Houston native was honored to throw the first pitch for their opening game of the season.
Days after her Olympics campaign, where she clinched three gold medals, Simone Biles was seen at Minute Maid Park on August 30 along with her teammate Jordan Chiles, where Biles was invited to throw out the first pitch during the match between the Astros and the Kansas City Royals.
The 27-year-old made a right-handed throw to the Astros' infielder Jon Singleton and jumped in happiness after making the throw. She also followed the throw with a gymnastics-style salute.
The Houston Astros took to their Instagram handle and shared a carousel of pictures and videos featuring the gymnast throwing out the first pitch, as well as pictures of Simone posing alongside compatriot Jordan Chiles donning the Astros Jersey. The post's caption read:
"The GOAT. 7x Olympic Gold Medalist and Houston native, Simone Biles, with tonight's Ceremonial First Pitch!"
Simone Biles won her first gold at the Paris Olympics on July 30 at the Women's Artistic Team All-Around, where her team scored 171.296 points. She nabbed her second gold in the individual all-around event, scoring 59.131 points, and the third gold in the vault event on 3rd August, where Biles scored 15.300 to stand atop the podium.
Simone Biles opened up about her Paris Olympics journey
After winning a total of four medals at the Paris Olympics, Simon Biles talked about her performances at the French capital in an interview with Olympics.com. Talking to former gymnast Aly Raisman, Biles said she went through rigorous preparation to be fit for the quadrennial event.
"A lot of training with Cecile and Laurent (Landi), a lot of hours with my therapist, making sure all the ducks are in a row so that I can perform as well as I want to. So, after all is said and done, a lot of weight is off my shoulders," Biles said.
She further reflected on her accomplishments and said she felt much better after the Olympics.
"I feel so much better now that it’s done because we know how hard that is especially to attain something that is so big and to just even do it again was an amazing accomplishment to just make the all-around final and then to come out with a gold medal I was like, 'Oh my gosh I did it’ but I still can’t believe it."
Simone Biles became the most decorated American gymnast of all time, having won 11 Olympic medals, which comprised seven gold, two silver medals, and one bronze medal.
