Simone Biles makes her feelings known about spending Christmas with husband Jonathan Owens and not having family around

Simone Biles has wrapped up her competitive season for 2024, and she will now be enjoying the holidays with her husband Jonathan Owens. However, while the gymnast may be done with competitions, Owens is still busy with the NFL season, and the couple will be celebrating Christmas without their families.

The American recently opened up about her feelings for the same, outlining that while she’ll miss her relatives, she was happy to spend time with her husband. Biles and Owens got together in 2020, and since they began dating, the couple has been each other's biggest cheerleaders, showing up in the audience to extend their support when their other half is competing.

For the couple, Christmas will be a busy affair, as Owens and his team, the Chicago Bears, have a home game scheduled for December 26. As a result, they will be spending the holiday in Chicago, away from their families. Speaking on this, Simone Biles told People Magazine,

“This will be the first Christmas that we'll spend alone together as a couple, which is actually really nice.”

For Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens, Christmas hasn't been the only holiday impacted by the latter’s busy NFL schedule. Before this, the gymnast outlined what their plans for Thanksgiving looked like, with Owens and the Bears scheduled to play the Detroit Lions.

Speaking to US Weekly before the match, Biles explained that their holidays were centered around their careers, saying,

“I’ll fly up in the morning and fly right back, just so we can still spend Thanksgiving together. Holidays are revolving around sports right now, especially in the football world with them sometimes playing.”

She had gone on to add that the couple's plans for the holidays also included Owens’ teammates, saying,

“We’ll just have a chef come and cook. I think some of his teammates will come through and grab a plate, especially if they don’t have family in the area. It is a little bit more difficult, but it is kind of nice that we can just relax.”

For both Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens 2024 has been a busy year. In the first half of the season, Owens cheered for his wife as she competed at the US Core Hydration Classic, the US National Championships, the US Olympic Trials, as well as the Paris Olympics Games. Meanwhile, the second half of the year has seen Biles make multiple appearances in the stands when Owens is competing with the Bears.
