American gymnast Simone Biles nominated coach, Cecile Landi, for the Order of Ikkos award. This honorary award presented by the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) is awarded to a coach of a Olympic gold medal-winning US team and is proposed by athletes or other team members.
Landi and her husband, Laurent, have played an integral part in shaping Biles and her teammate, Jordan Chiles' career. Landi was also present beside Biles as a constant guide during the 2024 Olympics where she won three gold medals and a silver.
Owing to this support and mentorship, Biles acknowleged the contribution of Landi through this nomination. Landi took to her Instagram handle to share a note from Christine Bolger, official of USOPC Coaching as she received the Order of Ikkos medal.
She also shared a glimpse of the prestigious title in her recent story. The note addressed the constant guidance that the French coach provided Biles and helped her through the quadrennial games. Landi also thanked Simone Biles for this nomination and wrote:
"Feeling greatful Thank you @simonebiles"
Over the years, numerous prominent coaches of the USA such as Robert Kersee (Women's 400m) and Bob Bowman (Women's 4x100m relay) have been receipients of the award and now Landi is one among them.
Cecile Landi attended the premiere of Simone Biles' documentary, shared some kind words
Cecile Landi was present during the Los Angles premiere of Simone Biles Rising: Part 2 on October 25. This part of the documentary majorly emphasizes on the journey of Biles in the third Olympic Games of her career.
The French coach shared a few glimpses of her time at the premiere on her Instagram handle and also wrote some kind words for the gymnast. Landi thanked Biles for the invitation to the premiere and also mentioned the quality of the gymnast that makes her inspiring. She wrote:
"Such a special night celebrating the premiere of Simone Biles Rising on Netflix in Hollywood! Many thanks to Simone for sharing this night with us, I’m always in awe of you, no matter the accolades,you always stay true to yourself and truly care about the people around you."
The docuseries is directed by Katie Walsh and is the subsequent part of "Simone vs Herself" released in 2021 which was also directed by Walsh.
