Simone Biles addressed a fan comment after her Gold Over America tour performance in North Carolina since she couldn't respond in person due to illness. The GOAT, headlined by Biles, will conclude its second edition in Detroit, Michigan, on November 3, 2024.
Having debuted after the Tokyo Olympics, the Gold Over America tour kicked off its second edition on September 26, 2024. With the latest edition of the event, Biles wished to reflect on her three-year-long journey after the Tokyo Games, speaking out about mental health, therapy sessions, and self-worth.
"We wanted to share that story of 'it's okay to not be okay,' but this one is the outcome of putting in that work, taking care of yourself, and where it gets you. It's just what happens after you take care of yourself and the success that brings. And so I think that's the exciting part about the story and what the show brings," she said in September before the tour started (via Olympics.com).
The pop-concert-style gymnastics event has already toured across 29 cities in the US, the last being at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. On November 1, Biles and her fellow Olympians and World medalists performed at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Among the audience was a little fan who publicly expressed how she would miss the Olympian after the tour. Biles addressed the fan's comment on her Threads handle and clarified that she couldn't respond due to ill health.
"to the little girl who yelled “we’re gonna miss you” last night, just know I was unwell," her caption read.
The 30-time World medalist extended her Olympic medal tally to 11 after winning gold in vault, all-around, and team competition, and silver in the floor.
Simone Biles detailed the GOAT playlist and expressed pride in making an impact
In an interview with the Click on Detroit Local 4 WDIV, Simone Biles described the GOAT as pop-concert-style gymnastics and specified the reason behind its popularity among young fans.
"It's a high energy, pop style concert gymnastics. We have Beyonce, we have some Post Malone, We have some Cannon Barbie, and we have some Taylor Swift and the kids are absolutely eating it up. The whole audiences are singing while we're performing, like we're truly blessed. We're just blessed." [2:07 onwards]
The gymnasts of the tour also turned heads with their unique leotards, especially the police-themed outfits they wore at the America's Got Talent finals.
