Simone Biles was all praise for her husband and Chicago Bears' safety Jonathan Owens after he made a crucial interception against the San Francisco 49ers. Earlier this year, Owens cheered for the gymnast at the Paris Olympics after asking for permission for a brief break from the Bears' pre-season camp.
Biles was yet again spotted in customized Bears' gear as she wore sweatpants with "Owens" written on the front during the Sunday night football game. The 27-year-old paired the customized pants with a full-sleeve tank top.
While the Bears suffered a heavy one-sided 13-38 defeat, Owens put up a fight during the game and managed to intercept Brandon Allen's pass. The 29-year-old's Olympic gold medalist wife was ecstatic over his interception and hyped up the safety following the game.
Reposting a video of Owens intercepting Allen's pass on her Instagram story, she wrote:
"LFG!!!"
The 27-year-old has frequently been spotted at Owens' games after the conclusion of her Gold Over America Tour earlier in November. The couple have been living together in Chicago since and are elated to spend time with each other after months of a long-distance relationship.
Simone Biles on Jonathan Owes: "He truly believes he’s the best at everything"
Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens met through an online dating platform, Raya, in 2020 and the gymnast said she quickly felt attracted to the footballer. Of all the things the gymnast liked in Owens, she said the NFL player's confidence stood out the most despite having been struggling with his career at the time.
"If I’m going to be honest, obviously he’s very fine. [But] besides his looks, he was so sweet and kind, and I think what I liked about him was his confidence. He truly believes he’s the best at everything,” Simone Biles told Vanity Fair in an interview in January 2024.
Owens, who went undrafted in his first senior year in the NFL, was playing for the Houston Texans when the couple met in 2020 and in the following year, the 29-year-old would score his first career interception and fumble. He earlier played for the Arizona Cardinals in 2018 and later moved to the Green Bay Packers for the 2023 season before signing a two-year contract worth $4.5 million with the Chicago Bears in 2024.
