Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens, a power couple in the sporting world, often give fans an insight into their everyday lives. Most recently, the duo headed to New York as the gymnast appeared on the Today Show. Biles gave fans glimpses of the ramen date she shared with her husband upon their arrival in New York.
Biles and Owens first met on the celebrity dating app Raya right before the COVID-19 lockdown. The pair quickly grew close and went public with their relationship later that same year. They got engaged on Valentine's Day in 2022 and were married a year later, first in a courthouse ceremony in Texas and later in a destination wedding in Cabo.
Simone Biles and her husband recently took a trip to New York together, with the gymnast making an appearance on the Today Show to surprise longtime host Hoda Kotb on her last day hosting the show. Before heading to the studio, she spent some time with Owens and took to her Instagram stories to show off her outfit and give fans a glimpse of the couple's ramen date.
Simone Biles reflects on her relationship with Hoda Kotb over the years
Over the years, Simone Biles has become a familiar face on the Today Show, discussing the highs and lows of her career with host Hoda Kotb. On Kotb’s last day hosting the show, the gymnast made a surprise appearance on the broadcast to bid the 60-year-old goodbye.
On her relationship with Kotb, Biles called her Team USA's ‘Olympic mom’, saying (at 1:12):
“She's like our olympic mom. I have been coming to "the Today Show" for years and sharing vulnerable stories, which Hoda has given us such a great platform to be open and raw and feel like a safe space. So I appreciate all you have done for us to allow us to tell our stories.”
For Simone Biles, 2024 was an incredible season in the gym. She began her year competing domestically, dominating the competition at the US Core Hydration Classic, the US National Championships, and the US Olympic Trials. The gymnast was particularly impressive at the national championships, where she claimed a clean sweep of all five events.
She then moved on to the Paris Olympics, where she helped the USA reclaim the team gold medal. Biles wrapped up her season by winning the gold medals in the all-around and vault events while taking silver in the floor.
