"Happy 48th anniversary. My parents are so cute"
For the unversed, Ron & Nellie Biles are the grandparents of Simone Biles and her three siblings. Her biological parents abandoned them, due to which they spent their early childhood in foster care. However, the Biles' couple brought them home in 2000 and formally adopted Simone and Adria in 2003.
Simone Biles' adoptive parents have been with her through thick and thin. From facilitating her homeschooling to enable increased training hours to establishing the the World Champions Center, Ron & Nellie Biles have been instrumental in the rise of the American gymnast. Thanks to their efforts, Biles has become one of the most decorated American gymnasts of all time.
When Simone Biles reflected on her father's advice that helped her realize her talent
Simone Biles has been extremely vocal about the support she received from her adoptive parents, especially Ronald Biles. The 27-year-old gymnast once opened up on the golden advice she received from him, that helped her realize her potential as a gymnast.
Initially, Biles was unsure about homeschooling. However, she eventually took up the decision at the behest of Ron Biles. In her autobiography, 'Courage to Soar', Biles mentioned,
"What finally pushed me to make up my mind was something my dad had told me years before. He’d said, 'Simone, never squander what God has given you.' When I thought about that, I realized God had given me the ability to do gymnastics in a powerful way. He’d also gifted me with a love for the sport and a passion for competing. I didn’t want to waste that. Once I approached it that way, the decision seemed inevitable."
Simone Biles initially committed herself to the University of California in Los Angeles for the collegiate season. However, in 2015, she announced her decision to turn pro in order to prepare better for the Rio Olympics, where she won four gold medals and a bronze medal.
