Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast of all time, recently provided an exclusive glimpse into the preparations for the Gold Over America Tour. The event is set to kick off on September 16 in Oceanside, California.
Biles extended her Olympic tally to 11 during her third appearance at the recently concluded quadrennial Summer Games in Paris. The Columbus native first helped the US team reclaim the team all-around title since 2016. She then secured two more golds and a silver in all-around, vault, and floor exercise events. With four medals earned in Paris, Biles became the seventh most decorated gymnast, considering both men and women, in terms of Olympic medals.
Following her Paris Olympics success, the 27-year-old is now gearing up to provide fans with a one-of-a-kind experience through the Athleta Presents Gold Over America Tour 2024. The Biles-led spectacle will also feature her counterparts like Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Hezly Rivera, Katelyn Ohashi, Peng-Peng Lee, Paul Juda, Brody Malone, Fred Richard, Joscelyn Roberson, Shane Wiskus, and Yul Moldauer, among others.
The inaugural edition of the tour will be held at Oceanside's Frontwave Arena on September 16 and 17. Subsequently, the event is scheduled to continue in 28 more cities before concluding in Detroit on November 3. Providing a glimpse into the preparations for the show, Biles shared a story on her Instagram account featuring a large acronym for the tour, "GOAT.
"lil sneak peek," Biles captioned the story.
"I’m most excited for the fans" - Simone Biles exudes anticipation for the Gold Over America Tour
Simone Biles expressed her excitement for the Gold Over America Tour during her recent interview with People, where she stated that she was most thrilled for the fans as they will get to witness both male and female gymnasts performing under the same roof.
"I’m most excited for the fans to see the best of both worlds,” she said. “Men’s and women’s gymnastics in one arena, at the same exact time, sharing the same floor."
Following the Paris Olympics, Biles took some time off. The American icon was recently seen at the U.S. Open. Reflecting on her time away from the sport, Biles stated that she needed this break.
"I’m very excited about the tour and I think having this time off helped me prepare mentally and physically," she added.
During her performance, Biles will be showcasing her signature double layouts and the Biles I, a unique skill on the floor.
