Simone Biles is the most decorated gymnast of all time, and this title has made her one of the best-paid female athletes across the globe. Recently, fans got a glimpse of the gymnast's luxurious life, as she travelled to Georgia in a private jet alongside her husband, Jonathan Owens, and her former coach, Cecile Landi.
Biles and Landi first joined forces in 2017, when the latter left the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy to join the World Champions Centre in Texas. Under Landi's guidance, Biles stormed to newer heights in her career, winning 13 World Championships golds and six Olympic medals.
In 2024, Landi announced that she had signed with the University of Georgia and has since parted ways with Simone Biles. Recently, the gymnast, alongside her husband Jonathan Owens, Landi, paid a visit to the University of Georgia, flying in a private jet for the journey. The University of Georgia gymnastics account on Instagram shared photos of the Olympic champion’s trip, with the caption,
“The Classic City looks good on @simonebiles.”
Simone Biles reflects on Cecile Landi's new role at the University of Georgia
When Cecile Landi left the World Centre in order to take up the role of co-head coach at the University of Georgia, Simone Biles was quick to show her support, writing on her Instagram stories after the announcement,
"Congratulations, Cecile. I can't think of a more deserving person. Can't wait to see what the future holds for UGA Gymnastics! Y'all are in GREAT hands!.’”
Recently, Biles reflected on Landi's new role at the UGA, and how it would be different from elite gymnastics. In an email interaction with the Athens Banner-Herald, the gymnast revealed that this was Landi’s dream job, and heaped praise on her, writing,
"Cecile is a fun, free spirit, very motivational but also compassionate. She truly cares for her athletes as if they were her own children. I’m so excited to see Cecile take on this role," It’s way different than elite gymnastics, but she deserves this amazing opportunity after all the years of hard work she’s put in!”
For Simone Biles, Cecile Landi was a pillar of support at the Tokyo Olympics, when the American dealt with the ‘twisties' and had to pull out of multiple event finals. Since then, the gymnast has successfully returned to the sport under Landi's guidance. She won four golds and one silver medal at the 2023 World Championships and followed this up with three golds and one silver at the Paris Olympics.
