Simone Biles' sister Adria Biles was ecstatic when Sports Illustrated named Simone Biles Sportsperson of the Year following the historic 2024 season. The seven-time Olympic champion achieved a historic feat at the 2024 Paris Olympics, becoming the second oldest woman in history to win the all-around title in gymnastics.

Adria reposted the SI's announcement on her Instagram handle on Thursday to celebrate her sister's triumph. She gushed over Simone's picture from the photoshoot with the magazine, writing:

"Ugh she's so prettyyyyy."

Simone, who acted like Adria's mother during their early childhood in foster care, was also excited to receive the honor and vowed to continue to inspire the next generation of gymnasts.

"I'm Simone Biles and I'm so excited to be Sportsperson of the Year. I think it's such a huge honor and a blessing that I have paved the way for the younger generations in gymnastics and hopefully will continue to do so," Simone Biles said in a video message.

Biles started off her 2024 season at the U.S. Classic and won the all-around, floor, and vault titles comfortably. She swept all five of the available gold medals at the U.S. Championships, and yet another dominating performance at the U.S. Olympic Trials set her up for a historic comeback at the Paris Olympics.

The 27-year-old led USA Women's Gymnastics to redemption in the team finals before becoming the oldest gymnast in 75 years to win the all-around Olympic title. She performed the iconic Yurchenko Double Pike for the last time to win the vault title and settled for a silver in the floor exercise finals.

Simone Biles contemplated giving up the sport following her dramatic campaign at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when she was labeled a quitter. It took the gymnast nearly two years to find the confidence to do the normal routines again, and when she did, she scripted history at every international competition.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Biles reflected on her journey post-Tokyo Games and was in awe of her ability to rise through the challenges and achieve her wildest dreams.

“It’s crazy. That I have the privilege and I have the mental strength to accomplish my wildest dreams,” she said.

While it's becoming more and more imminent with time that the 27-year-old is in the twilight of her career, she is yet to realize the extent of her greatest in the sport.

"I don’t think the reality has set in of what I’ve exactly done in the sport. I can see it, and I hear it from people, and I see a glimpse of it, but the full magnitude I don’t think I’ve realized just yet," Biles said.

Biles' 11 Olympic medals are the most by an American gymnast, and add her 30 world medals to the tally, she is the most decorated in history by a wide margin.
