Simone Biles submitted an original uneven bars skill to the International Federation of Gymnastics at the Paris Olympics 2024. If the American performs it during the competition in the following days, she would become the first gymnast in history to have skills named after her on all four apparatuses in the current code of points, and fans can't stop singing praises of her greatness.
Biles has submitted a variation of the element named after Wilhelm Weiler, where she does a clear hip circle forward with 1.5 turns or 540 degrees to handstand. After a review from the technical committee, the skill was awarded a difficulty score of E (0.5).
If Biles pulls off the skill during the competition, she will be the only gymnast with skills named after her on all apparatus in the current code of systems. Russian gymnast Svetlana Khorkina had the same honor until FIG removed one event from the 2022-24 code of points.
Uneven bars are considered Simone Biles' weakest of the four events, and as she sets to have a skill named after her in that area, fans are off to appreciate the gymnast’s greatness.
"SIMONE WITH SKILLS NAMED AFTER HER ON EVERY EVENT OH THATS TALENT," a fan wrote.
"Simone said I can't retire before I have a skill on each apparatus~~Queen," another fan wrote.
"Simone trying to get a skill named after her on her least favorite event is truly GOAT status on another level," a user wrote.
Some fans expressed hope of Biles winning the uneven bars gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024.
"Event finals for bars? This could boost her difficulty," a fan commented.
"She could also submit a easy 2 1/2 twisting double back dismount on bars too," another fan wrote.
"If she pulls this off, we know that she’s retiring for sure," a user stated.
Simone Biles already has 5 skills named after her
During her maiden World Championships in 2013, Simone Biles got the first skill, ‘Biles on Floor’, named after her. She got another floor exercise skill named after her at the 2019 World Championships, which is one of the toughest of the five. It's awarded a difficulty score of J.
Biles has two skills named after her on the vault, ‘Biles on Vault’ and ‘Biles II on Vault’. She got the first one named after her at the 2018 World Championships, and the second one, which is a Yurchenko Double Pike, the 27-year-old performed for the first time at an international competition in 2023.
Simone Biles has a skill named after her on balance beam as well. It's a double-twisting backflip and is awarded a difficulty score of ‘H’. A skill on uneven bars was pending, and as the world champion approaches the twilight of her career, she is likely going to get the fourth one at the Paris Olympics.
