As the countdown to the Paris Olympics 2024 continues, American sports magazine Sports Illustrated has shared its medal predictions in the top events. However, a few fans were not too pleased as they reacted to the predictions that showed most of the medals going to American athletes.
The Summer Games are just days away as track and field athletes gear up to descend on the purple track at the Stade de France and showcase their potential. Defending champions, debutants, and returnees from across the globe will all be in action from August 1 to 11.
According to Sports Illustrated, Noah Lyles, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Gabby Thomas are some of the American track stars who would win gold medals.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will be hanging her spikes after this year’s edition of the Olympics. Defending champions Elaine Thompson-Herah and world 800m champion Emmanuel Korir are some of the top athletes who will not be defending their titles at the Paris Olympics.
Lyles has been primed to win the 100m and 200m while Richardson has been named as the 200m winner. Thomas has been predicted to win the 200m, with Quincy Hall claiming the men’s 400m title. Sports Illustrated added that Grant Holloway and Masai Russell would win their 110m hurdle races.
The 400m hurdles races will be won by Rai Benjamin and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, according to the magazine. Joe Kovacs and Chase Jackson have been tipped to win the shot-put titles while Valarie Allman should take the win in the discus. The media outlet expressed confidence that Team USA would win all the relay medals.

As per the magazine, the women’s 100m will be won by Sha’Carri Richardson, with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce finishing second and Julien Alfred completing the podium. The women’s 200m will be won by Gabby Thomas as Shericka Jackson and McKenzie Long finish second and third.
The outlet noted that Marileidy Paulino would win the 400m as Nickisha Pryce and Natalia Kaczmarek finish second and third, respectively. Keely Hodgkinson is primed to win the women’s 800m as Mary Moraa and Nia Akins finish second and third.
