Lindsey Vonn expressed her thoughts after competing in back-to-back races in her comeback season. The American Alpine skier recently concluded her fourth World Cup appearance in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. She revealed that she was content with her performances and hoped to improve further as the season progressed.

Vonn's desire to come out of retirement nearly after six years stemmed from deep self-introspection and an unparalleled love for the sport. She had undergone a partial knee replacement surgery early in 2024 to find a permanent solution for her struggles with recurring pain. After the successful surgery, the American progressively rehabilitated and returned to the slopes in December.

After making her professional appearance in nearly six years, Lindsey Vonn revealed that she aimed to enjoy the process of competing rather than focusing on the results. For three weeks, Vonn competed in back-to-back World Cup races, and she took to Instagram to express her thoughts and reflect on her comeback journey.

"3 weeks of back to back to back racing! Some amazing races and some mistakes were made but overall I’m extremely happy with my skiing. This journey is taking shape fast than I expected but I still need to be patient. One step at a time!" she wrote.

Moreover, the American skier revealed that she will take a break to rejuvenate and prepare for the upcoming World Championships.

"It’s been a blast to be with such an amazing team too! These women have been crushing it and everyone is stepping it up! Now it’s time for a break so I can recharge and be ready for the World Championships in a few days!" she added.

Lindsey Vonn spoke to AP about her plans for her comeback season. The former World Cup Champion revealed how she aims to compete at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympic Games before officially bidding goodbye to the sport one last time.

Even though there were a lot of uncertainties that lay ahead, the American Alpine skier was optimistic about achieving her goals.

"I would never go past that. It would be a great way to end things — for once and for all I don’t know if it’s possible. I have to stay on my feet, unlike today. I have to keep things going and if I can make it, it would be a thrilling and a great way to kind of close the loop on my career — I guess the second chapter of my career," she said.

Furthermore, the former World Cup Champion revealed how she would focus on current events and did not want to look too forward to the future. Vonn wants to enjoy her time on the competitive circuit and improve her performance to compete in upcoming winter quadrennial games.
