USA rugby union player Ilona Maher recently shared a hilarious gag for her fans as she enjoys her growing popularity in the world of social media. This comes just a few months after she clinched her first Olympic medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Maher, who has an engaging fan base on social media, appeared as a swimsuit model for one of the most prominent magazine, Sports Illustrated, last month. A few weeks after being featured in the magazine, she has come up with a funny complaint for her followers.
The 28-year-old rugby player took to her Instagram handle to share a satirical video stating that her fans follow her just because she is funny, which can be very taxing as she always has to come up with funny things to say. She said in the video:
"Sometimes I just wish that people follow me purely because I am hot, instead people follow me because of my personality. So, I have to constantly give funny things to say and think of funny little quirks and try to relate to you all instead of just posting hot bikini pics and getting 20,000 followers. You guys are so greedy and always want to laugh."
"This is satire. I know some of y’all are only in it for my looks" she wrote in her caption
Ilona Maher played a crucial part in the US female rugby sevens team's bronze medal finish at the Paris Olympics. She scored five points in the bronze medal clash between the USA and Japan as the US side took a dominant 36-7 victory over its opponents.
Lindsey Vonn showers praise on Ilona Maher for her self-confidence
Legendary US Alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn recently commented on the amazing self-confidence that Ilona Maher has resonated through her body positivity. This comes after Maher was included on the list of Time100 Next.
In her column for Time.com, Vonn stated that Maher is not just about the amazing physique she possesses, but also the confidence that she carries with her. She also hailed Maher as a role model and wrote:
"She [Ilona Maher] represents not just physical strength but also what internal confidence looks like."
In her column, Vonn also mentioned that she is really proud of the 28-year-old rugby player as she has strengthened the idea of body positivity.
