Suni Lee reflects on her Paris Olympics triumphs

Suni Lee struggled with kidney-related issues approximately 18 months ago, which led to an early end of her time at Auburn University, and was subsequently ruled out of the international competition in 2023. The 21-year-old made her comeback at the Paris Olympics and reflected on her achievements despite the setbacks earlier.

Speaking to reporters via "Olympics.com" Lee said that it was a difficult journey as she had to overcome several hurdles during her comeback. She revealed that she faced the 'worst' time amidst these situations and went through several phases of self-doubt.

"I think there’s a lot of things to be proud of this time around, just because I had to overcome so much," Lee said. "There were days where I was fighting demons, and my coach, Jess, was just like, ‘You know what? I don’t even know if this is for you anymore.'"

Keeping in context the struggle she went through to get back on the mat, she remarked that it made her Olympic medals even more special.

"All the medals mean something super special to me. I'm really happy with how it went."

Following her three-medal haul at the Paris Olympics, Suni Lee has a total of six Olympic medals to her name.
