Stephen Nedoroscik recently reflected on his victory in the pommel horse event at the 2021 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He earned the only gold medal earned by an American male or female gymnast at the tournament that took place in Kitakyushu, Japan.
After qualifying in second place behind China's Weng Hao, Nedoroscik dominated the final round by recording a staggering total of 15.266 points. He was followed by Hao and Kaya Kazuma, who secured 14.900 points each. The pommel horse specialist's victory was the first gold medal victory by any American male gymnast on the particular apparatus at the World Championships.
However, at the same tournament, Nedoroscik broke a bone on his left hand while competing, leading to a severe injury and remaining dormant from the sport for a while and was diagnosed with vocal cord dysfunction diagnosis in the same year.
Reflecting on the rollercoaster championships, Nedoroscik reshared a picture posted by USA Gymnastics on his Instagram story and wrote:
"Throwback to the most successful, and chaotic, meet of my life."
"Honor to dedicate this dance to Men’s Gymnastics" - Stephen Nedoroscik performs pommel horse routine to pay tribute to men's gymnastics at Dancing With the Stars
Stephen Nedoroscik recently paid tribute to men's gymnastics by performing a pommel horse routine during his Argentine Tango performance on the Dancing with the Stars show.
He performed the routine before his tango display along with his pro dance partner Rylee Arnold on the song 'Seven Nation Army." He shared the video of his performance and took pride by stating:
"What an incredible experience! I never would have thought I’d be doing Pommel Horse into an Argentine Tango," he wrote. "This dance was such a challenge and I’m so glad @ryleearnold1 trusted me to execute every step and trick in this dance! I was surprisingly nervous but hearing the ballroom erupt as I mounted the Horse helped me lock in just like a gymnastics meet!!"
He added:
"Thank you to everyone who cheered and voted for us, your help and kind words do not go unnoticed 🫶🏻. It was a true honor to dedicate this dance to Men’s Gymnastics. I can only hope my efforts can help to grow my amazing sport 🙌🏻"
Stephen Nedoroscik won a bronze medal in his preferred event at the Paris Games after collecting 15.300 points. It was the only individual medal by an American male gymnast at the quadrennial event.
