As 2024 concluded, Suni Lee reflected on her journey throughout the year. She also expressed hope and positivity for the new year, 2025.
Lee conveyed that she started the year facing significant challenges. However, despite the setbacks, the 2024 year turned out to be "one of the best years" for her. After having navigated the 2023 season with a severe kidney issue, Lee returned to the sport in 2024 at the Winter Cup, held from February 23 to 25 in Kentucky.
However, she was far from her best in the tournament. Later, the gymnast competed at the 2024 U.S. Classic and dominated the balance beam event. She went on to earn the Olympic spot after being invited to the Trials.
Lee recently took to social media to share a few of her best moments of the year, including her floor routine at the Trials and her medals at the Paris Olympics.
She expressed her gratitude for the opportunities and people she encountered in the year, writing on her official Instagram account:
"2024 easily started out as one of the hardest years but turned out to be one of the best years!! 🥹🥹❤️."
Lee added:
"Truly so grateful for every opportunity and all the amazing people this year brought me 💛 here’s to 2025 🥂."
"I’m at such a better place in my life" - When Suni Lee expressed her joy about her victory at 2024 Paris Olympics
The 2024 Paris Olympics was arguably Suni Lee's most significant highlight of the year, where she secured a gold medal in the team event alongside Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, Hezly Rivera, and Jade Carey. She also secured two bronze medals in individual all-around and uneven bars events.
In an interview with Glamour in October 2024, Lee expressed her pride in making it to the Games and reflected on how she’s in a better place, both physically and mentally.
"That wasn’t how I wanted to end my Olympics in Paris, and I was a little disappointed, but at the end of the day, I was super proud of myself because I made it to the Olympics,” she said. “I didn’t even think that I was going to be here.I’m at such a better place in my life, not even just physically but mentally, to where I can accept everything that’s happened. Not many people get to come here twice and compete with the best of the best."
Following the Olympics, Suni Lee also made a stunning appearance in the SI Swimsuit issue.
