Suni Lee congratulated tennis player Coco Gauff for clinching her first WTA finals title. Gauff recently won the 2024 China Open title, while Lee won gold in the team competition and bronze in the all-around and uneven bars at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Following her successful exploits, she took to her Instagram story on November 10, 2024, and extended her heartfelt congratulations to fellow US athlete, Coco Gauff, who lifted her first WTA finals trophy.

Lee's comment read:

After her win, the World No. 2 expressed gratitude for her supporters, writing:

"I know tend to focus on “doubters/haters” but this one is really for all of my supporters! Ya’ll held it down for me win or lose! I thank you for that. I see you and I appreciate you."

Gauff won 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (6-2) over Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen, becoming the youngest player to achieve so since Maria Sharapova in 2004. The 20-year-old pocketed $4,800,000 on her monumental win.

After her resounding success at the Paris Olympics, Suni Lee took to her Instagram to clap back at trolls and reflect on how her persisting kidney-related health issues made her second Games win more special.

"From being told that I would never be able to do gymnastics again to winning my 5th Olympic medal!! this medal goes deeper than gymnastics. I can’t even begin to express how much my health has taken away from me & the strength it has taught me, so to be here is the greatest achievement of all," she wrote.

Gauff expressed her admiration for Suni Lee in the comments, writing:

"LOVE IT AND YOU, SUCH A QUEEN"

Suni Lee competed in her first Games edition in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, winning the all-around title, silver in the team competition, and bronze in the uneven bars. Her effort made her the first American of Asian descent to claim the all-around win in history.

Diagnosed with a rare kidney issue at the beginning of 2023, the 21-year-old skipped major competitions to address her health issues. In the Paris Olympic build-up, Lee returned to the 2024 Winter Cup mat and competed at the Hydration Core Classic and National Championships.

At the Paris Games, she was part of the 'Golden Girls' team that won gold and collected the all-around and uneven bars bronze medals.

Lee made several off-mat appearances in 2024, including the US Open finals and New York Fashion Week.
