Gearing up to defend her all-around title at the Paris Olympics 2024, Suni Lee recently unveiled her dream Olympic team that includes legendary names like four-time Olympic champion Simone Biles and 2008 Beijing Olympics all-around champion Anastasia "Nastia" Liukin.
Suni Lee created history at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after becoming the first American gymnast of Asian descent to win a gold medal in the women's all-around event. She scored 57.433 to win her maiden Olympic gold. She also earned a silver and a bronze in the team event and uneven bars respectively. Furthermore, Lee is a team event World Championships gold medalist.
The 21-year-old also won the balance beam apparatus with a score of 14.6 at the Core Hydration Classic in May, and then finished fourth during the 2024 U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, scoring 110.650 in the finals. At this year's US Olympic Trials in June, Lee finished second with an all-around score of 111.675 to secure a qualification for the Paris Olympics.
As she gives final touches to her Paris Olympics preparations, Lee shared the names of her dream Olympic team with Elle on Wednesday, July 17. Her ideal squad consists of names like seven-time Olympic medalist Simone Biles, two-time Olympic champion Aliya Mustafina from Russia, five-time Olympic medalist Nastia Liukin, Russia's seven-time Olympic medalist Svetlana Khorkina, and 1996 Atlanta Olympics team all-around champion Dominique Dawes from the United States.

Suni Lee will be defending her all-around title at the Paris Olympics 2024 with Simone Biles being one her leading competitors at the event.
However Lee takes inspiration from her comptariot, and admitted that Biles pushes her to do better. Lee said (via Elle):
"Simone is absolutely incredible, and somebody that I look up to every single time I go and compete against her, because the things that she can do are just unreal. And it’s so inspiring, because it just makes me want to get better and better."
Revealing her future plans, Suni Lee expressed that she might be available one more time to take part at the Olympic Games in front of the home crowd in Los Angeles in 2028. She added that the decision would also be dependent on the amount of gymnastics she would be doing at the time.
