American gymnastics prodigy Suni Lee recently expressed concerns regarding her participation at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Lee has six Olympic medals from her two appearances in Tokyo and Paris.
The 21-year-old was part of the American gymnastics team that participated in the Paris Olympics, and won medals in three out of the six events she competed in.
She secured a gold in the team all-around event and a bronze in the individual all-around, finishing behind Simone Biles and Rebeca Andrade. Additionally, Lee earned a bronze in uneven bars, being the only American to secure a medal in the event.
A kidney-related health issue put Lee's participation in the Olympic trials into doubt. But she persevered and emerged victorious both at the trials and the Olympics. When a fan asked her during a Q&A on her Snapchat about her participation at the LA Olympics, she gave a worrisome reply and expressed that her body hurts after doing gymnastics for so many years.
"Everyone asking this but guyssss my body hurts this sport kills me ahhh." She wrote
Her reaction was shared by wong4worlds on their X handle (formerly Twitter) with the caption:
"The day Suni retires will be the saddest day on the gymternet, please give us one more games."
"Knowing I was able to overcome everything was the most special moment" - Suni Lee on winning medals amid adversity
During an August interview with People, Suni Lee expressed that she never anticipated that she would be competing at the highest level, and to know that she overcame all the challenges and won several medals has been the most special experience of her life.
"I think everything just means so much more because I didn't think that I would be here. And just knowing that I was able to overcome everything and never gave up was probably the most special moment, I guess for me, in winning all of those medals."
In addition to her six Olympic medals (two gold, one silver, and three bronze), Suni Lee has also won three World Championship medals (one gold, one silver, and one bronze), establishing herself as one of the most accomplished gymnasts in the world.
