Swimming World Cup 2024 Incheon - Day 1 Results: Kate Douglass breaks WR in 200m breaststroke, Regan Smith wins 50m backstroke

The second stop of the 2024 Swimming World Cup kicked off in Incheon, Korea, on 24 October. American swimmers continued their dominance on the opening day. Olympic medalists Kate Douglass and Regan Smith were the star performers of the day, while Noe Ponti continued his dominance in the men's events.

Douglass broke a 15-year-old world record in the women's 200m breaststroke, clocking 2:14.16 minutes to win the gold medal. She also won the women's 100m individual medley in 59.67s, convincingly becoming the top-ranked female swimmer from the first day after having won the Shanghai series.

Smith was also impressive on the first day of the 2024 Swimming World Cup in Korea, securing medals in the women's 200m freestyle and 50m backstroke. She secured the gold medal in the 50m backstroke finals in 25.71s while placing second in the 200m freestyle in 2:03.21 minutes.

Fresh off his world record performance in the 50m butterfly in Shanghai, Noe Ponti was impressive yet again, picking up gold medals in 100m freestyle and 100m individual events. Ponti clocked 48.81s for the gold medal in the 100m freestyle while sharing the 100m IM title with France's Leon Merchand in 51.00s.
