The second day of the Aquatics Swimming World Cup in Incheon, Republic of Korea, saw an American swimmer yet again race to a world record as Regan Smith improved her record in the women's 100m backstroke. She clocked an impressive 54.41s to win the gold medal in the event.
Kate Douglass continued her blistering form from Day 1 of the competition, taking the gold medal in the women's 50m butterfly. She clocked 24.73s to hold off the challenges of Sara Junevik and Lily Price, who touched the finish line in 25.27s.
Beata Nelson was another American swimmer among the medals on Day 2 of the 2024 Swimming World Cup. She took the bronze medal in the women's 100m backstroke, clocking an impressive 56.41s.
Meanwhile, French swimming star Leon Merchand continued to showcase his dominance at the World Cup, winning the gold medal in the men's 200m individual medley. South Africa's Pieter Coetze continued his top form alongside Merchand, taking the gold medal in the men's 50m backstroke final in 22.80s. He also won the bronze medal in the men's 100m freestyle.
The Republic of China's Qin Haiyang returned to winning ways in the 50m breaststroke finals. He won a close battle with Ilya Shymanovich to take the win in 25.76s, beating the latter by a marginal 0.02s.
