Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is one of the greatest track athletes to grace the sport. She currently hold the world record holder in the women’s 400m hurdles, achieved during the 2022 World Athletics Championships on home soil, clocking a sensational 50.68s.

McLaughlin-Levrone recently became the first athlete to sign on with four-time Olympic gold-medalist Michael Johnson’s launched professional track league, the Grand Slam Track. However, despite being only 24 years old, she has also achieved many accomplishments off the track.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s Brand Endorsements

McLaughlin turned professional in 2018 by signing with talent agency WME and went on to become a part of the Gatorade team. The same year in October, she signed a multi-year endorsement deal with New Balance, one of the world’s leading sports footwear producers.

In 2021, she became the brand ambassador of the Swiss luxury watchmaker, Tag Heuer. She also secured an endorsement deal with the skincare and cosmetics brand, Neutrogena, in 2023.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s early life

Born on August 7, 1999, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, McLaughlin-Levrone comes from an athletic background. Her father, Willie, was a semi-finalist in the 400m at the 1984 US Olympic Trials, and her mother, Mary, was a middle-distance runner at Cardinal O'Hara High School. Her siblings Taylor, Morgan, and Ryan also competed in track disciplines.

She went to the Union Catholic Regional High School in Scotch Plains, New Jersey and attended the University of Kentucky.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is married to Andre Levrone, a former American football player. McLaughlin and Levrone connected through social media, and after only a few dates, they realized they were meant for each other.

McLaughlin and Levrone got engaged during a getaway to the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale in Arizona in August 2021. The two finally exchanged vows at a vineyard in Virginia in May 2022.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s prominent achievements

Sydney McLaughlin represented the USA at the Rio Olympics, her first appearance at the Quadrennial Games, where she came fifth during her semi-final heat and didn’t advance to the final.

However, in her next Olympics in Tokyo, McLaughlin entered as one of the medal contenders for the 400m hurdles and defeated the defending champion Dalilah Muhammad with a new world-record time of 51.46s. She also contributed to the USA team’s gold-medal victory at the women’s 4x400m relay in the same edition.

Her World Championships career has witnessed her winning three gold and one silver, including two golds in the relay event, and a gold and silver in the individual 400m hurdles in 2022 and 2019. She also won the Diamond League title in the 400m hurdles in 2019.
