"Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is definitely the greatest"- Justin Gatlin weighs in on the American athlete's dominance in the 400m hurdles 

Justin Gatlin recently spoke about Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Team USA's women's 4x400m relay team. The former Olympic medalist expressed his astonishment at McLaughlin-Levrone's sheer dominance in the women's 400m hurdles over the years.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has been unbeaten in the women's 400m hurdles since 2021. Moreover, she broke the women's 400m hurdles world record six times to emerge as one of the best athletes in the event's history. Justin Gatlin made an appearance in the 'Run your Race' podcast and spoke about Team USA's impressive performance in the women's 4x400m relay that led to a gold medal victory with a formidable lead.

Gatlin was impressed by the performance laid down by Gabby Thomas, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Shamier Little, and Alexis Holmes and said:

“The margin of victory was astronomical. It was crazy. Like usually, like in those races, it's kind of closer. And like you see the separation when it's like the last maybe 50 meters of that race. Like you're like, oh, they pulling away."

Furthermore, he sheds light on how Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone's distinctive quality separates her from the rest of the athletes.

“You know what? I'm going to say. What I'm going to say is Sydney definitely is the greatest. She broke her event. Like the time that she ran, like. She's breaking her own records. And what I say is outside of just her own event, she might be one of the greatest when it comes to like the mental toughness," he added.

Justin Gatlin spoke about Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone's incredible performance in the finals of the women's 4x400m relay at the Paris Olympics. The American athlete expressed his elation at witnessing such dominance from an athlete who registered a lead of over 40 meters by the time she passed over the baton to Gabby Thomas.

"Sydney jumping the mix, boy. You saw what she did, boy. She made television mad. The camera guy was upset. The camera guy didn't even know who to look at. Am I going to be watching who's in the front, who's already like 40 meters ahead, or we going to be watching the rest of the pack?" he said.

Furthermore, Gatlin was impressed by the fact that McLaughlin-Levrone registered such a fast time while leading and he wondered what her performance would be like if she was trailing behind and had to overtake a particular runner ahead.
