Rising Olympic sprinter and hurdler Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone made a prominent impression on the track after her Paris Olympics win. With her rising stature, she also looks forward to inspiring all the women who are looking up to her.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone broke her own world record at the 2024 Paris Olympics 400-meter hurdles (50.65s) and set a new one after clocking 50.37s. The star successfully defended her Olympic title by racing against time. The athlete competed in four World Championships, during which she won three gold medals and one silver medal.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone with her partner Andre Levrone appeared on the “Life and Books and Everything” podcast, hosted by Kevin DeYoung. During the podcast, the sprinter touched upon several crucial segments revolving around her incredible journey and also shared encouraging words centered around her core Christian beliefs.
“I think one of the best things that scripture has taught me is to take my eyes off of myself. In a culture that constantly wants you to look at yourself or look at others and compare yourself, seeking Christ who is above and fixing your eyes on him and you know trying to model your life after what he represents and not what the world will tell you is you know valuable or honorable or admirable these days is I think helpful for any young woman,” she said [1:04:05 onwards].
She continued:
“Especially in an age of social media that is so comparative to one another to beauty standards which are always changing or what they say is, you know, valuable in a young woman to have. True beauty and value is found in God's word and what he calls us to be as Christian women and so I would say fix your eyes on Christ.”
McLaughlin-Levrone's inspirational words serve to spread the message of personal development, optimism, and maintaining one's faith. The Olympian also shared some other insights into her livelihood in the same podcast.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone on her nutritional plan and lifestyle
The elite athlete from New Jersey who set a national record as a high school freshman also revealed what kind of diet plans she and her partner follow and how their similar professions help them maintain their nutritional and lifestyle goals.
“We're pretty similar, I feel like in our regiment. The great thing about being married to another pro athlete is we're on the same page about a lot of this stuff. So I think the lifestyle is not hard to maintain because we have each other. But definitely eat pretty healthy,” she said. [36:34 onwards].
She further mentioned:
“We definitely like some flavor you know, we don't want to, you know have, we don't want to make ourselves miserable in this whole process for sure. But definitely try to stick to eating pretty clean and healthy, making sure you have enough protein, all the vegetables, all those different things.”
Her partner, Andre Levrone also revealed how the four-time Olympic gold medalist likes to eat a “balanced” diet with a “lot of protein and healthy carbs”. During the podcast, it was also shared that the athlete is a “sleep enthusiast” and that she has also helped Andre with his sleep cycle.
With her eminent wins from an early age and feats at the Paris Olympics, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has become a star on the track and field. With her positive message, she wishes for everyone to look up to the message of the Almighty.
