Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone celebrated her first anniversary as skincare brand Neutrogena's brand ambassador by returning to her alma mater Union Catholic Regional High School in Scotch Plains to host Run Club for young girls from NPO. McLaughlin-Levrone recently ran the invitational races in Brussels after a double victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The 25-year-old, who broke her 400m hurdles record for the sixth time in Paris, joined hands with Neutrogena in September 2023. She joined the likes of fellow Neutrogena ambassadors Chloe, Halle Bailey, and Wednesday fame Jenna Ortega.
In September 2024, the 400m hurdles world record holder celebrated the completion of one year with the brand by hosting a Run Club for girls at Union Catholic Regional High School. The Olympian was a student of UCRHC when she etched her name as the first two-time Gatorade Player of the Year in Track and Field and took part in her maiden Olympic edition in Rio (2016).
A recent X post featured the four-time Olympic gold medalist sharing an adorable moment with the Run Club girls. As McLaughlin-Levrone walked up to them, a girl asked whether she could hug her, while the others stared in admiration.
When Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone was welcomed as the Neutrogena ambassador, head of the brand's equity and strategy Natasha Haubrich pointed out the benefits of the partnership.
"We have loved watching Sydney’s success over the years and cannot wait to continue to grow as a brand with her by our side. We feel confident that this partnership will help inspire consumers across generations,” she said (via Cosmetics Business).
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone on how she got her hands on Neutrogena in her teenage years
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone's elder sister Morgan ran track for St. Peter's University. Whichever skincare products Morgan used, McLaughlin-Levrone resorted to those, thinking the products would suit her skin type as well.
"When my sister—who’s five years older—went to college, I was entering high school and started using anything she had left behind at the house. I wanted to learn how to use her skin care products and see if it works for me," she said via Elle.
But later, McLaughlin-Levrone wished to impress the boys with her flawless skin and visited local CVS to get products for her acne. That's when she set her eyes on Neutrogena.
"When you get to high school and start liking boys, you want to take care of yourself more. I would go to the local CVS, and, no joke, the first skincare brand I started looking at was Neutrogena; it’s affordable, and I had a lot of acne at the time, and that began a long journey of just figuring out my skin," she noted.
The Olympian has ended the 2024 season but will soon be back for the Grand Slam Track, the Michael Johnson-hosted event.
