Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s husband, Andre Levrone, expressed his honest thoughts on how he feels while watching the Olympian compete in the 400m hurdles event. Sydney and Andre have been married for over two years, having tied the knot at a vineyard wedding in May 2022, and are very supportive of each other’s careers.

During Sydney and Andre’s virtual appearance on the ‘Life and Books and Everything’ podcast, the ex-NFL player described the experience of watching his wife’s hurdles event as "nerve-racking." Starting at 34:46 onwards, he said:

“It's nerve-racking, that's the word, especially with hurdles. You hit the nail right on the head. It's the hurdle aspect. Whenever she runs flat or open races, I'm just, ‘She's fine. I really am confident, she's gonna win’. But, at the same time, there's no barriers, there's no unanticipated circumstances that can really happen.”

Additionally, Andre shared that he stays well-informed about Sydney’s training and expectations through close communication with her coach Bobby Kersee and performance director. However, he also admitted that the stakes are high and any mistake could imply a long wait for redemption, adding:

“But still, when you're sitting in the stands, it's a lot different than being either on the field or on the sideline in a team sport like football. You're just like, ‘What's about to happen?’ Because, like she's already alluded to, it's the most unforgiving sport. If she does anything over 60 seconds, we're in bad shape, you know? I mean, anything she's doing is under a minute's time and then you got to wait at least another year, another four years perhaps, to redeem yourself.”

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone opened up about the support from her parents at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Besides being present in the stands to show their support, they also wore white 'Team Syd' t-shirts during her event.

On her appearance during the Jennifer Hudson Show in September 2024, Mc-Laughlin Levrone spoke about her family’s support and the crowning moment after winning the 400m hurdles, saying (starting at 2:07):

“My sister-in-law was like, ‘I'm going to bring a crown and after you win I'm going to place it on your head.’ So, that was her idea. But, yes my whole family, we all ran track my four siblings. There's four of us and then my parents. My husband was also an athlete in the NFL so all the athletes all understand it's a family function and so I wouldn't be able to do it without.”
