In the wake of her remarkable feats in the track events at the recent Summer Olympics and Diamond League invitational, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone showed off her impressive basketball skills. McLaughlin-Levrone returned to her alma mater on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, to unveil an Olympic banner featuring her glorious feats.
McLaughlin-Levrone broke her world record in the women's 400m hurdles for the sixth time at the 2024 Paris Olympics after clocking a stunning time of 50.37 seconds. She achieved the feat by defeating fellow teammate Anna Cockrell and fiercest rival Femke Bol, who recorded 51.87 and 52.15 seconds, respectively.
Following her Olympic and Brussels Diamond League feat, she was invited to her alma mater, Union Catholic High School, which is located in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. The 2017 UC graduate showcased her basketball prowess with an incredible long-range shot in an exciting display of her talent.
The four-time Olympic gold medalist astounded her fans by nailing the shot from the half line while facing away from the basket.
The Union Catholic Sports Media account, managed by the students shared the video on their Instagram story and wrote,
"Olympic track star and occasional union catholic basketball legend."
McLaughlin-Levrone reshared the video on her story with the fans and wrote,
"Took a minute but we got it."
McLaughlin-Levrone's alma mater held two watch parties for the Union Catholic community while the 25-year-old made headlines during the Paris Games.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone made her third appearance at the Olympics at the Paris Games after making her debut at the 2016 Rio Games at the age of 17.
In Rio, she was placed in fifth place in the semifinal round of the women's 400m hurdles. At the Tokyo Games, she bagged two gold medals, in women's 400m hurdles and 4X400m relay. The American favorite defended both the titles at the recent Games.
During her appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, McLaughlin-Levrone reflected on how her first two Olympics prepared her for her third appearance, stating they helped her recognized the efforts needed to compete at this prestigious level.
"At Rio, I was 17 years old and was thrown into the world stage not knowing what to expect," McLaughlin-Levrone said. "I think I’ve learned so much since then that now I can understand what it takes to compete at this level."
"I think that experience and that in Tokyo as well just kinda prepared me for Paris. And this was my first full real Olympics, I feel like."
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone ran the fastest second leg of the lineup with 47.71 seconds in the women's 4x400m relay final at the French capital, earning a gold medal.
