Tara Davis-Woodhall broke down in tears after she received a surprise planned by her husband, Hunter Woodhall. He organized a party for his wife for winning gold in the long jump at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Davis-Woodhall, representing the USA, delivered a significant performance on August 8 in the long jump event by jumping a distance of 7.10m. In doing so, she beat defending champion Malaika Mihambo of Germany, who secured second place with a jump of 6.98m. Jasmine Moore, also of the USA, claimed third place by registering a jump of 6.96m at the games.
Following this win, Davis-Woodhall received a surprise welcome party from her husband. Justwomensports shared a video on Instagram that showed Woodhall preparing for the surprise. He can be seen saying in the video:
"I made it home and we're gonna throw a surprise party for Tara."
The athlete's husband was seen arranging balloons with various designs, including American flag-themed balloons. The Olympic champion broke down in tears as she saw the crowd, including her fans and family, standing on the roadside with the balloons and cheering for her. The post's caption read:

Tara Davis-Woodhall opens up about viral gold medal celebration with Hunter Woodhall
A video of Tara Davis-Woodhall and her husband celebrating together immediately after the former's win at the Paris Olympics 2024 went viral on social media. In the video, the American athlete can be seen running towards her husband after securing the gold in the women's long jump. The latter is then seen hugging her and shouting:
"Babe, you're the Olympic champion! You're the Olympic champion!"
Following this, in an interview with People, Davis-Woodhall opened up about the video and said that she was happy that everyone witnessed how Hunter Woodhall is her biggest supporter, and she also said that she wasn't aware of "how viral" the video went:
"I haven’t been on social media that much, so I don’t know how viral it’s gone," Davis-Woodhall said. "Everyone’s been telling me the whole world’s been seeing it, but that’s just Hunter and I. He’s my biggest supporter, and I guess the whole world got to see how much he supports me."
Along with this, Davis-Woodhall also spoke about the duo's plans to go home for Hunter's training before the 2024 Paralympics:
"We’re going to go home for 13 days, pack it up, get some more training in for Hunter, and we’re gonna be back [for the 2024 Paris Paralympics]. The party continues. It doesn’t end here. I’ve been telling everyone that, ‘Watch the Paralympics! It’s going to be a special show. Team USA is coming with a vengeance, and we’re going to dominate this year."
Hunter Woodhall will be competing in the T64 100m and T62 400m events at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, which are slated to commence on August 28.
