Reigning long jump Olympic champion Tara Davis-Woodhall shared her response to Indiana Fever standout Caitlin Clark sending the golf ball into the crowd. Clark recently made an appearance at the esteemed Annika Pro-Am event in Florida.
The 22-year-old WNBA sensation attended the Annika Pro-Am at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida, and tried her hand at golf on Wednesday, November 13. The annual tournament is organized to honor the legacy of Swedish legend Annika Sörenstam, who holds the record for the most wins by a female golfer, at 96. With a purse of $3.25 million, the event features some of the best female golfers in the world.
Just before participating in the event, Clark mentioned that her main goal was to avoid hitting anyone outside of the ropes. She said:
"Just going to try not to hit anyone standing outside of the ropes." (via Sports Illustrated)
However, her wish did not quite age well as one of her shots resulted in an errant tee that flew into the crowd. However, the Fever guard nailed the shot in her second attempt and impressed the crowd. Just Women Sports shared the video of the moment on their Instagram account, writing:
"She’s just like us."
The video was later reposted by Tara Davis-Woodhall on her Instagram story, accompanied by the caption:

"Nothing really hanging over my head anymore" - Tara Davis-Woodhall shares her aspirations for the upcoming season
Tara Davis-Woodhall made history at this year's Paris Olympics by defeating Germany's defending long jump Olympic champion, Malaika Mihambo, with a leap of 7.10 m. This marked her maiden Olympic medal in two appearances
Speaking about her upcoming season, the 25-year-old shared that as the reigning Olympic champion, she aims to enjoy the sport while experiencing personal growth.
"It'll be to just embrace the feeling of being the newly reigning Olympic champion, and just going out and jumping and competing with just the joy of that. There's nothing really hanging over my head anymore of like, 'I need to be this, I need to have this.' 2025 should just be a year of growing and rebuilding of what we did this year," she said."
Tara Davis-Woodhall was recently named the new assistant coach for the K-State track and field program, where she will work with her coach, Travis Geopfert, who is the Director of Track and Field/Cross Country at the facility.
