Tara Davis-Woodhall's husband Hunter wins silver medal in 100m at World Para Athletics Championships 2024

Paralympic athlete Hunter Woodhall, US long jump athlete Tara Davis-Woodhall's husband, flew to the T64 100m victory at the ongoing 2024 World Para Athletics Championships. At the 11th edition of the event, the 25-year-old Olympian earned his fifth World Championships podium.

Hunter, 25, competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics to earn the T44 200m silver and 400m bronze. He repeated this feat at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which earned him the T62 men's 400m bronze. He faced the unfortunate fate of fibular hemimelia at birth, after which his parents amputated both his legs at 11 months old.

He started his career in 2015 at the IPC Athletics World Championships after registering with the US National Paralympic Team. Completing high school, he received the Division I athletic scholarship from the University of Arkansas, becoming the first double-amputee track athlete to have achieved so.

The three-time All-American in the 4x400m, Tara Davis-Woodhall's husband, will look to make his third Olympic appearance in Paris. The 2024 World Para Athletics Championships is currently midway in the Kobe Universiade Memorial Stadium in Kobe, Japan. In March 2024, Tara Davis-Woodhall's husband competed at the U.S. Paralympics Track & Field National Championships, which acted as the World Championships' qualifier. He lowered the T62 100m US record from 11.04s (set by him in 2021) to 11.04s. Moreover, he also ran the first 400m of the season to stop the clock in 48.04s, clinching his second national title.

At the 2024 Arkansas Twilight, Woodhall ran his 4x400m relay split in 44.48s. The blazing speed garnered love and attention from global fans. Pitching to the Olympics administrative body, one fan demanded his entry on the 4x400m roster over Noah Lyles at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"Petition to have him on the 4x400 in Paris over Lyles?"

This comment moved Tara Davis-Woodhall's Olympian husband, who shared the tweet and addressed the Olympics to include him in the Paris relay roster.

"Let me run in the relay @Olympics plz."

After breaking the 400m American record at the US Nationals, Woodhall expressed gratitude to his team in a post-race interview.

"It means the world to have my team here supporting me, it’s what the sport’s all about and makes the moment so special.”
