After the Women's Qualification - Subdivision 2, Team USA, featuring Simone Biles, earned qualification for the gymnastics finals at the Olympics, posting a total score of 172.296. Biles joined Suni Lee on the all-around, Jade Carey on the vault, Jordan Chiles on the floor exercises, and Lee on the balance beam podium, en route to Subdivision 3, scheduled for July 28, 2024.
Biles, Lee, Chiles, and Carey entered the Olympic arena for the second time as a team after Biles' troubled stint at the Tokyo Olympics. In the wake of Biles' 'twisties', the team earned the silver podium despite being a heavy gold favorite. Biles settled for bronze in the uneven bars individual event.
In a recent interview, the four-time Olympic gold medalist shared that the team faces a lot of pressure to go out and prove that they have improved since Tokyo:
"We weren't under the best circumstances … but I feel like we have a lot of weight on our shoulders to go out there and prove that we're better athletes,” Biles said. “We're more mature, we're smarter, we're more consistent," she said in a conference. (via People)

Simone Biles - "We're going to go out there and we're going to do our best.”
Following her troubles at the Tokyo Olympics, Simone Biles made her comeback slowly, but went on to take center stage at the 2023 World Championships, where she not only earned her sixth World title but also anchored the US team to a gold finish.
At the 2024 US Olympic Trials, the gymnasts were in top form again, executing stellar routines. In a post-event interview, Biles said that the women would perform their best for the love of gymnastics and representing the nation.
"I think it has to be for us because it can't be for anybody else, ‘cause that’s not why we do it. We do it for ourselves and the love for the sport and the love for representing the U.S. So we're going to go out there and we're going to do our best," she said. (via People)
