Lindsey Vonn penned a heartfelt message for her father on the occasion of Father's Day. The former star Alpine skier thanked her father, who himself was a junior national skiing champion, for supporting her and believing in her dreams.
Lindsey Vonn's mother, Linda Lindy Anne Lund passed away in 2022, a year after being diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The American alpine skier had opened up on the tough phase of her life and how her mother's fighting spirit inspired her a lot.
Vonn, in her Father's Day note, expressed that after her mother's passing, he was her only parental figure with whom she could share good news and the sorrows of life. She took to Instagram to pen down a heartfelt note for her father.
"Happy Father’s Day Dad. Thank you for sharing your love of the mountain with me. It’s where we always spoke the same language, even if we didn’t speak. Thank you for believing in me when no one else did. Unfortunately, it’s just us now… you’re the only parental figure I can call when I want to share good news or tell you when I’m sad. Mom, Grandma, and Grandpa can only guide us from above. But I’m thankful every day that I still have you. Love you Dad," read the caption.
Lindsey Vonn opens up on the best gift that she had given her father
Lindsey Vonn was inspired to hit the ski slopes by her father. Her father, Alan Kildow, has been a skier himself and enjoyed the thrill of hitting the slopes which he passed down to his daughters. In an interview with LOBOS Pack, Vonn spoke about the gifts that she gets for her father on special occasions like Father's Day.
“I always tend to get my dad something ski-related for Father’s day because that’s kind of the one thing that we really have in common,” she said.
Moreover, she also revealed the most memorable gift that she had given to her father, who has always been a strong support and inspiration to her.
“I think the most memorable thing I got him… Me and my sisters actually wrote the three best lessons my dad ever taught me. And we framed it and he seemed to like it. It’s pretty sentimental,” she added.
During her free time, Vonn continues to hit the slopes with her father and shares those updates with her fans on Instagram.
