Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone stole the spotlight in Los Angeles at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix with a powerful victory in the 200m. She clocked a personal best of 22.0 seconds, which is the second-fastest time in the discipline so far this season.
Speaking to the media after the race, the 24-year-old revealed that she would be running in her favorite event, the 400m hurdles at the Paris Olympics 2024. This is the discipline in which she won gold at the Tokyo Olympics and currently holds the world record.
When asked if she gave achieving an Olympic double a thought in an interview, McLaughlin-Levrone said that while it was something she thought was possibly in the future, her current focus was on being healthy after coming back from last year's knee injury.
"That's definitely a possibility in the future but just wanting to come back last year, stick to one event, and try to do the best I can, be healthy, which we are, and I'm very happy about."
At the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix, McLaughlin-Levrone beat Abby Steiner, who clocked a time of 22.32 seconds and finished second. Sharing the podium with them in third position was Brittany Brown with a time of 22.35 seconds. McLaughlin-Levrone also opened up about her knees and her current form.

In the aforementioned interview, McLaughlin-Levrone was asked about what the process was of getting back from her knee injyry and how hopeful she was feeling about it. Answering the question, the athlete opened up about her knee situation after her injury and that she was doing the best required without straining herself too much.
"A lot of prevention and care, a lot of stuff. We have a strong muscle. Both of my knees feel great right now, which I'm very happy about. I'm just trying to keep it that way. I'm not doing too much to strain myself," the 24-year-old said.
Along with this, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone also opened up about her current form. She stated that her speed hadn't ever been as good as this year.
"I don't think so. I think this is the best it's been which is really exciting just trying to put all these pieces together now," the 24-year-old said.
Reflecting upon how she was going to look upon her season further, McLaughlin-Levrone said:
"Just trying to get progressive, get faster, get stronger, get better technically. All those pieces kind of have to come together so I'm just happy we're kind of slowly checking this."
McLaughlin-Levrone is currently ranked 11th in the World Athletics world rankings for 400m while being 198th in the overall rankings.
