Simone Biles once again showed support for her husband Jonathan Owens, claiming that his comments last year about their relationship were taken 'out of context'. The eleven-time Olympic medalist also lashed out at the trolls who wanted her to separate from the NFL safety.

Owens appeared on The Pivot podcast in late 2023 and was asked whether he thought he was the 'catch' in his relationship with the Olympic gymnast. He replied:

Owens was subjected to severe hate online, with the trolls even asking Biles to get a divorce from the NFL player after his comments went viral. However, the Olympic champion has now claimed that Owens' comments were taken out of context.

"In the beginning, appearing to outsiders’ views, is that they were the biggest fan of Jonathan. And then he did an interview, and it was taken out of context. And then they became Jonathan’s biggest haters," she recalled in the Season 2 of her Netflix docuseries 'Simone Biles: Rising'

Biles also lashed out at trolls who were commenting on her Instagram posts, asking her to get separated from Owens.

“Who’s going over to someone’s profile and saying who you can and can’t love? Like, that’s just ridiculous. People are just … ugh,” she said.
“They equate our love to the amount of trophies and medals and accolades that I have, and that’s not how you measure love. Like that doesn’t equate to how much my husband loves me or likes me,” she added.

Earlier this year, the 27-year-old claimed that Owens was right in saying that he was the catch in their relationship because she hadn't seen a man like him in her life.

“He never said I wasn't a catch. He said he was a catch because he is. I've never met a man like him. A lot of people that meet him are like, 'Oh my gosh. I want a man like that, like Jonathan'," she said (via People).

While Simone Biles was disturbed by the online hate her husband Jonathan Owens was getting, the NFL player claimed he had turned off the outside noise.

"Everyone has a voice, but we do a good job of tuning it out. But sometimes you have to express yourself and let people know, like, ‘You’re in the wrong," he told US Weekly.

Owens also said that he was unbothered by the criticism because people didn't know everything about their relationship.

"They don’t know everything that goes on in our relationship. As long as we stay tight and our bond stays strong, we’re unbreakable,” he added.

The Chicago Bears' safety traveled to Paris to support Biles at the Paris Olympics, witnessing her win two gold medals in the team and all-around competitions.
