Michael Phelps shares heartwarming message on wife Nicole's 39th birthday

Michael Phelps wished his wife Nicole on her 39th birthday on July 12. He shared a throwback picture of them together along with a heartfelt note.

Phelps and Johnson met at the ESPY Awards in 2007, and dated for eight years before getting engaged in 2015. The couple secretly got married in June 2016 before the Rio Olympics.

They later threw a second destination wedding in October at Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The couple now have four children together: Boomer Phelps, Beckett Ohelps, Maverick Phelps, and Nico Phelps.

Michael Phelps shared an old picture of him and Nicole on Instagram and added a heartwarming caption for his wife on her birthday:

"17 years ago we started this journey through life...Happiest Birthday to my best friend... the love of my life... And the best mom our lil's could ask for!!😍🤗😘"

Before tying the knot, the couple went through a lot of issues and were in an on-and-off relationship.

Learning from their relationship's journey and after being married to the Olympian for more than seven years, Nicole Phelps recently shared a heartfelt post on her Instagram story, which read:

"Soulmates will always end up tigether. No matter how much love got, no matter how much distance there was. You lose each other to find each other again."

She reflected on her relationship with Phelps and called him her true soulmate:

"To those who feel they've lost their soulmate.. it's true it somehow works itself out," said Nicole. "@m_phelps00 and I had many years of heartache and separation to only end up back together this go ❤️ and it's been amazing."

Nicole Johnson Phelps was a model who participated in multiple paegants before her marraige and a runner-up at the Miss California Teenager. She is now an ambassador of the Michael Phelps Foundation, which aims to spread awareness about water safety and acknowledge mental health concerns.

Michael Phelps is the most decorated swimmer with his exceptional 28 Olympic medals and multiple other historic wins. He is now retired and plays golf every now and then. He is usually seen spending quality time with his wife and kids.
