The U.S. Core Hydration Classic will be one of America's biggest gymnastics competitions this year outside of the nationals and the US Olympic team trials, thanks to the face-off between three players. The competition on Sunday will mark the first time Olympic all-around champions Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, and Suni Lee go head-to-head.
Douglas was crowned the Olympic all-around gold medalist back in 2012, becoming the first African-American woman to do so. Biles picked up the title in 2016, while Lee achieved the feat at the Tokyo Olympics.
Reigning World Champion Biles has previously competed with and against both Douglas and Lee. She partnered with the former at the 2015 World Championships and 2016 Rio Games, while Lee joined the gymnastics ‘GOAT’ at the 2019 World Championships and 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
However, given that Douglas went on hiatus three years before Suni Lee’s senior elite debut in 2019, this Olympic gold-medal winning trio has never competed together before.
Now, with Gabby Douglas back in action, the opportunity has finally arrived. The fans are excited about the three facing off at the U.S. Core Hydration Classic.
Reacting to Douglas, Biles, and Lee coming together, one fan compared them to the tennis legends Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, writing:
“the big 3.”

Another pointed out how lucky America was to field such talented gymnasts at the same time:
“Speechless. So much talent in 1 photograph! How did America get so lucky?!?”

Here is how other fans reacted:
“The impact of their careers will forever reverberate in sport so this photo alone is absolutely monumental! Good luck this weekend ladies.”

“My gymnastics fan heart can barely handle what is happening this weekend.”

“Whoa I love that they may all qualify! I love that they're defying agism in the sport!! This changes things for other women in gymnastics where ppl tell girls that peak time is 16 yo and then no longer bc you're too old. Keep changing the narrative ladies. Continue to redefine gymnastics athleticism!"

“If all 3 make the team and Gabby Douglas is even half as good as she used to be USA gymnastics team women's is going to be hard to beat especially if all make the team, and all are at the top of their game in the competition."
