Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce advanced to the 100m semi-finals after recording her season's best on Day 2 of the Jamaican Olympic trials. This triumph has garnered a lot of attention from her fans from all over the world.

Fraser-Pryce made her Olympic debut at the 2012 London Games, where she clinched two silver medals in the 200m and 4x100m relay events. Ever since then, she has squared off in all the editions until the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She is a three-time Olympic gold medalist and has won eight Olympic medals overall throughout her career.

Fraser-Pryce is poised to represent Jamaica for one last time on the Olympic stage and has inched one step closer by winning the 100m heats. She clocked 10.98s, her season's best, in Heat 1 of the trials. Track & Field Gazette shared the video of the Jamaican's run on X and wrote:

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce opens up about her retirement

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will be representing Jamaica on the Olympic stage for the last time if she qualifies for the Paris Olympics 2024. The Olympic champion recently revealed her retirement from the sport after the 2024 Summer Games. In an interview with Essence.com, she stated that her son needed her and she needed to spend time with her family. (Via Forbes)

"My son needs me," said Fraser-Pryce. "My husband and I have been together since before I won in 2008. He has sacrificed for me. We're a partnership, a team. And it's because of that support that I'm able to do the things that I have been doing for all these years."

She added:

"And I think I now owe it to them to do something else."

Talking about the opportunities for the next generation, she further added,

"You can have an impact, and it's important to show people that you can't be selfish. It's not enough that we step on a track and we win medals. You have to think about the next generation that's coming after you, and give them the opportunity to also dream and dream big."

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is one step closer to her last hurrah and will compete next at the 100m semi-finals on June 29 at the Jamaican trials
