Fans of Canadian pop icon Celine Dion are thrilled as she is rumored to be making a return to performing after nearly two years at the Paris Olympics. She is expected to perform at the opening ceremony on Friday.

Dion, aka "Queen of Power Ballads," is known for her blockbuster hits like "Think Twice," "The Power of Love," and "My Heart Will Go On" for James Cameron's 1997 film Titanic. For her unforgettable music, the 56-year-old has amassed 228 awards out of 470 nominations, which includes six Grammy awards and seven Billboard Music Awards.

However, the Charlemagne native had to take a hiatus from her musical career in December 2022, citing Stiff Person Syndrome, which is an autoimmune neurological disorder characterized by muscle stiffness and painful spasms.

Celine Dion, who previously opened the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, is now reportedly set to take the stage once again for the Paris Olympics opening ceremony on July 26. She was spotted at the Le Royal Monceau hotel near Champs-Élysées recently. Variety reported the news on their X handle (formerly Twitter), posting:

"EXCLUSIVE: Celine Dion looks set to make her music comeback at the Paris Olympics during the opening ceremony. It would mark the icon's first performance since stepping away from the spotlight after being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in Dec. 2022."

Fans are ecstatic about Celine Dion's comeback and are chiming in with their reactions to the post. A fan refreshed their memory from the Atlanta Olympics and wrote:

"Céline’s 1996 Summer Olympics performance still gives me chills."

Another fan expressed their excitement for her comeback and tweeted:

"The Olympic Songbird is finally back."

A fan recalled the iconic notes of her famous song "My Heart Will Go On" and wrote:

"*opening notes of "My Heart Will Go On* BAH GAWD, KING!"

There were several enthusiastic comments, like:

"THE QUEEN IS BACK," posted a fan.
"STOP I WILL CRY," said another.

When Dion performed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, she opened the games with a performance of "The Power of the Dream," and the ceremony was reportedly watched by an astounding 3.5 billion fans worldwide.

When questioned about a potential comeback during her interview with Forbes France in April, she stated (as quoted by Variety):

"I’ve chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team. I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again!"

However, Dion did not promise anything at the time of the interview. Now it appears that she is set for a special comeback at the Paris Olympics.
