The 'Jordan Chiles' story from the Paris Olympics has a new plot twist as the USA Gymnastics has now reached the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). They have submitted some additional video evidence to the CAS to prove that the bronze medal awarded to Chiles in the floor exercise event at the Paris Olympics 2024 is justified, and there is no need to change that decision.

Earlier, the Court of Arbitration for Sport had accepted the complaint by the Romanian authorities, who alleged that injustice was meted out to Ana Barbosu of Romania, the original bronze medalist. In their judgment, they not only accepted Romania's complaint but also asked the FIG to reinstate the original scores and give the bronze medal to Barbosu as soon as possible.

Fans reacted to this decision and expressed their thoughts on X [formerly Twitter].

"The plot thickens. What a mess", commented one user.
"There is a serious crisis of competence in the world, and the IOC had it on full display the past 2 weeks" wrote one user.
"They should honestly just share the medals", suggested one user.
"Good! Keep that score. Jordan deserves to keep her bronze. Romania already offered to share the bronze and we accepted it. Barbosu and Jordan can walk away happy" wrote one user, expressing open support for Chiles.
"I'm going to temper my emotions right now because I'm happy about this development but I feel for both of the athletes. You're expected to show up at the Olympics and perform to the best of your ability. THAT'S IT. They're both being subjected to a ridiculous clown show because the officials KEEP missing up. It's unacceptable and was completely avoidable", another user chimed in.

Paris Olympics has been subject to several controversies, including the bronze medal being handed over to Jordan Chiles for the floor exercise event. After CAS revoked her medal, the IOC officially approved the decision and asked the US authorities to return the bronze medal.

The entire controversy began on August 5, when the finals for the floor exercise event were held at the Paris Olympics. Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles were the top favorites for a gold medal, but Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade surprised them both to win the top honors with a score of 14.166.

Biles managed a respectable silver medal, with a score of 14.133. But the controversy surrounded the bronze medal. According to the initial scores, judges awarded Ana Barbosu of Romania the bronze medal, who scored 13.700. Her compatriot Sabrina Voinea scored the same but was relegated to fourth, due to her lesser score in execution, and a penalty for allegedly going out of bounds.

Jordan Chiles was ranked fifth, with a score of 13.666. However, American coach Cecile Landi protested, alleging that Chiles' execution score was not properly judged. After a review, the jury admitted their mistake and increased Jordan Chiles' score to 13.766, awarding her the bronze medal.

The Romanian authorities were infuriated by this decision and strongly protested against this, taking the matter to CAS. The Romanian PM also announced his decision to boycott the closing ceremony. However, the CAS was firm in its verdict to revoke the bronze medal awarded to Chiles and restore it to Ana Barbosu.
