Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian has announced a huge prize money for any track and field athlete signed up to be a part of the Athlos NYC league if they win a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Earlier this year, the Reddit co-founder had announced that his venture capital firm "Seven Seven Six", was investing in women’s track with the 776 Invitational, which was later renamed Athlos NYC.

The event is set to take place on September 26 at Icahn Stadium, the same venue where the USATF New York City Grand Prix takes place. World 200m silver medallist Gabby Thomas and British sprinter Annie Tagoe were among the first athletes to sign up. They were later joined by world record holder Faith Kipyegon and world champion Alexis Holmes.

The event is set to offer big prize money. In each category, the prize money is set to be $60,000 for first place, $25,000 for second place, and $10,000 for third place.

Now, Ohanian has announced that if any athlete who has signed up for the Athlos NYC league manages to clinch a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, he will give them $60,000 as a reward as well.

"I'm hosting an event in New York called ATHLOS. 36 of the fastest in the world, that's the largest prize ever in the history of track and field. The winners are going to get 60 thousand dollars each at that event. And you know what? We haven't announced everyone yet but ATHLOS ladies, you know who you are," he said in a video on Instagram.
"If you win a gold medal here in Paris, I'm gonna give you 60 thousand dollars as well. So there's the bounty, let's get that hardware. I love the Olympics and just happy to play a role in supporting track and field, especially women athletes. This is just the start. Have an amazing Olympics," he added.

Ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Veronica Fraley took to social media to state that she had more pressing concerns in her life: paying her rent.

She took to social media to state that while she was gearing up to compete in the Summer Games, she was also worried about paying rent as her school (Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee) only covered about 75% of it.

Not long after she made the post, Alexis Ohanian offered to help her. He later shared a screenshot of the transaction confirming that he paid her $7,760.

In his video on social media, Ohania stated that he would be cheering for her when she takes to the field in the French capital.

"Today is the start of Olympic track and fields. I am actually at Disneyland Paris right now because I promised my girls. But I'll be catching some events later on, don't you worry. Veronica, we're going to be cheering for you. Get out there, throw that disc, be great," he said.

Fraley, who is the 2024 NCAA discus champion, won a bronze medal in the discus at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials and will make her Games debut in Paris.
