Stephen Nedoroscik called dancing 'vulnerable' since any little misstep on the dance floor can make a person look silly. Nedoroscik also shared his learning philosophy and how he takes an 'ego hit' to deliver his best on the stage.
Stephen Nedoroscik, the pommel horse bronze medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics, anchored his team to a bronze finish, the first US men's gymnastics team podium since 2008. He shifted to dancing by participating in Dancing With the Stars and partnered with professional dancer Rylee Arnold.
The dancing pair delivered strong performances and made it through to the finals. In a podcast episode hosted by Shawn Johnson and her husband Andrew, Stephen Nedoroscik unveiled his learning philosophy and how the final performance on stage pays off to 20 hours of hard work. He also talked about the vulnerability of dancing since a small mistake could lead to the dancer looking foolish on stage.
"I look at it so like first it's like let's get the steps right and now let's start to get the music and then let's start to get the form of everything and like refine and by like the time. A week goes by and you've put in 20 hours of work into the dance it looks pretty good. So, like I think in general, especially with dance it's such.. there's something vulnerable about it because it is hard and you look so silly if you're doing it wrong.
He then shared the trick of delivering an errorless performance on stage.
"Like you kind of just have to take that ego hit and just be like, 'Okay I'm going to look really dumb for a couple of days here but it's going to be worth it'."
Stephen Nedoroscik started his DWTS season with a jive performance and will conclude his run with a freestyle form.
Stephen Nedoroscik's teammates will join him for the final dance on DWTS
Rylee Arnold, Stephen Nedoroscik's dancing partner, revealed that the final performance on November 26 will have special elements, especially the pommel horse bronze medalist's Team USA men's gymnastics teammates, set to help Nedoroscik win the Mirrorball trophy.
"We have so many components, we got Stephen's teammates here."
The 26-year-old excitedly added:
"I've got my teammates. It's gonna be so fun."
The camera panned at Brandon Nguyen, Riley Loos, and Jeremy Bischoff. Nguyen noted:
"We're super excited to be here for freestyle, so, please tune in and support Stephen."
Lindsay Arnold, Rylee's sister, mentor, and professional dancer, also expressed excitement over the finale since she couldn't be present on the premiere night of the reality show.
