Piers Morgan is well known for his no-holds-barred take on almost every issue. The British journalist has been unequivocal in his admiration for Indian para-archer Sheetal Devi, who was applauded for her performance at the Paris Paralympics 2024, despite being eliminated early in the individual compound event.
Morgan recently shared a video on X of Devi hitting a bullseye in the women's compound pre-quarterfinals against Chilean archer Mariana Elena Adelina Zuniga Varela, the silver medalist in the previous edition held at Tokyo 2021. He took to X (formerly Twitter) and said:
"These Paralympians are truly incredible. Wow."
Devi lost to Zuniga by a single point in the pre-quarterfinals. However, she broke the world record in the ranking round and gave a tough fight to her opponent making her popular among the crowd present and sports buffs worldwide.
The 17-year-old archer from the Kishtwar region of Jammu & Kashmir in India will compete in the mixed team event with Rakesh Kumar tonight, who missed the podium in the men's individual compound event at the Paris Paralympics 2024 by a whisker, losing the bronze medal to China's He Zihao by a single point.

Piers Morgan was in the spotlight for the entire duration of the Paris Olympics. He was extremely critical of the organizers of the quadrennial edition, especially during the opening ceremony.
When a parody of "The Last Supper" was enacted during the ceremony, it invited immense criticism from many, including Morgan. He took to X [formerly Twitter] and said:
"Btw, what the f**k was all this about? A drag queen mockery of the Last Supper at the Olympics? Would they have mocked any other religion like this? Apalling decision!"
Further, Morgan was one of the few who criticized the inclusion of boxers like Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu Ting of Taiwan in women's boxing at the Paris Olympics. He accused them of being biologically male and challenged Khelif to conduct a test to determine her sex.
Morgan also had an online scuffle with Olympic champion and world record-holder sprinter Michael Johnson over the value of the Olympic gold medal over others.
When Johnson commented on facing the burden of expectations, Morgan criticized his approach, saying that "losing is losing."
