"First of all, the vibes were BIG. Having 29x Olympic medals on the roster sure helps turn out an audience, but track has been on the rise this year, period. These women are finally getting the spotlight they deserve. @Athlos is s all about amplifying that, and it worked!"
Alexis Ohanian shared his views on investing in women's sports
In a recent interview with Citius Mag, Alexis Ohanian lauded women's sports and highlighted the benefits of investing in women athletes. He said that investing in women's sports was not "charity," but purely one of the best businesses and a good investment.
"If every single one of the women who races here today feels like this was the best meet of their lives, check," Alexis Ohanian said. "We’re doing something right. Job’s not finished, but we’re doing something right.”
He added:
"None of this is about charity. It's pure business and the reality is women are a great investment and women in sport are an exceptional great investment."
Alexis Ohanian's Athlos NYC is the first all-female track meet and came up with unique concepts. For instance, the athletes were given a Tiffany crown rather than a medal. The winners received a whopping amount of $60,000 and were also provided with all the elite facilities, like accommodations, travel, and many more.
