Mondo Duplantis reacted to a tribute given by Sweden for his new pole vault world record at the Silesia Diamond League. The Swedish athlete has broken the record for the 10th time in his career.

Just three weeks after setting a world record at the Paris Olympics, Duplantis stunned with another one by soaring to a height of 6.26m at the Silesia Diamond League on August 25. He defeated Sam Kendricks and Emmanouil Karalis by a prominent difference, as they posted 6.00m.

Following this achievement, the pole vaulter was honored in Avesta, Sweden, having his world record tribute bar raised to 6.26m. The athlete re-shared the video of the bar being raised and hilariously reacted to it on X. He shared an image of a tired NBA player and indicated it to the people raised the bar whenever he broke the world record.

"They feeling like this😭, " Duplantis wrote.

The 24-year-old became the Olympic champion in Paris by registering a world record of 6.25m and by defeating Kendricks and Karalis, who reached the heights of 5.95m and 5.90m, respectively. He bettered his world record by 0.01m at the Diamond League.

Mondo Duplantis opens up about setting the world record at the Silesia Diamond League

Mondo Duplantis broke the world record for the third time this year at the Silesia Diamond League. In the post-competition interview, the Swedish-American athlete opened up about the victory and said the record came naturally and that he wasn't surprised by it. He said (as quoted by Hindustan Times):

"This year I focused on the Olympics, the record just came naturally because I was in good shape," Mondo Duplantis said. "So, I am not surprised with the record today, but I am thankful."

The 24-year-old also reflected on receiving immense cheers from his fans after his poor first attempt. He soared to the world record in his second attempt and said it was unnatural to witness so much love from the crowd.

"It almost feels weird and unnatural to get so much love and support from the crowds when I compete. I see that especially in Poland. The energy in this stadium just keeps getting better every year. My first world record also came in Poland, indoors in Torun (in 2020), so I have great memories from here," he added.

Mondo Duplantis received a prize of $100,000 after breaking the world record at the Silesia Diamond League. The pole vaulter's first world record came in 2020 when he cleared 6.17m in Torun, surpassing Renaud Lavillenie's 6.14m from 2014. He broke his own world record just eight days later in Glasgow after soaring to a height of 6.18m.
