"They hurt my feelings"- Simone Biles 'broke down' after husband Jonathan Owens was trolled on 'catch' comments

Simone Biles recently opened up about how her husband being trolled on the internet, which led to a huge controversy, affected her. Her husband Joanthan Owens made a comment in 2023 stating that he did not know about Biles before they started dating. This caused a huge controversy in the sporting world.

Fans were furious to know that he did not know Simone Biles despite her being the most decorated gymnast of all time. One particular statement that he made was picked up by fans and led to heavy trolling on social media.

“I always say that the men are the catch,” he said

Simone Biles opened up about the aftermath of the trolling and the imminent effect that it had on her. She revealed details on the podcast Call Her Daddy.

"When that was all going crazy and trending, what are you guys saying to each other?Thought it was hilarious what people were saying. Divorce him. All this crazy stuff. So I thought it was hilarious at first and then they hurt my feelings," she said. ( Timestamp- 1:15:08)

She added:

"And then like one night I got broke, I broke down and I'm like, why are you guys talking about my husband like this?Like you don't know him, you don't know who he is and if anybody's met him, they know he's the sweetest guy and will do anything for anybody," she continued.

"Yeah, it was just perceived in in not the correct way. And so that really hurt that they were talking about my husband like that.Because for me, it's like, talk about me all you want, but don't come for my family," concluded Biles.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens met for the first time during a football game in 2019. But the couple got acquainted with each other when they met on the dating application Raya.

They started dating before the Covid 19 pandemic but kept their relationship under wraps until August 2020 when Biles made their relationship Instagram official after posting two pictures of them together.

After suffering from a setback at the Tokyo Olympics, Jonathan Owens stood as a strong support for Biles to overcome that adversity. They got engaged on February 15, 2022.

They spent a lot of time together and very often were spotted supporting each other from the stands. Over a year after their engagement, the couple got married on April 22, 2023.
